‘We carry most of our activities with police’

Srinagar, Sept 9: It seems the photos of wounded and battered people, and people moaning with pain on hospital beds are not a proof enough for the top brass of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to rein in its personnel who are beating men, women, and children and ransacking homes.
Shockingly, the CRPF on Monday claimed it has not received any “authentic complaint” about excesses perpetrated by its troopers.
The CRPF spokesperson, Prabhakar Tripathi said, “Most of the allegations which have been brought to our notice have turned out to be false. But even if one allegation is proved we will take strict action. We are a disciplined force”
“We do not get many complaints from the people but we confirm it from the local commandant and the local SHO as we carry out most of our activities with the police,” he said.
Reacting to the reports of CRPF personnel entering Mohallas and smashing window panes, he said, “Most of the people are protestors and make such allegations. There is no report of any CRPF personnel breaking any glasses.”
Tripathi also claimed that the CRPF was using “minimal force” while dealing with the protestors. “We throw stones back; that is the least we can do. Throw back the same stones as they throw at us,” he added.
“Our people get injured but can we make similar claims about people beating us. This morning protestors broke the windows of a CRPF bus,” Tripathi added.
The Deputy Inspector General of CRPF N Bhardwaj underplayed the beating of thousands of people in one liner, “We have taken cognizance of all the complaints.”
