Srinagar: ActionAid International continues to run the HELPLINE to provide life-saving medicines and food aid to people in various hospitals in Kashmir. One of ActionAid's drivers, Fayaz Ahmed, was beaten and injured on Sunday afternoon by para military CRPF men at Nawab Bazar, Srinagar while transporting medicines. He was carrying valid curfew pass and clear ActionAid uniform and markings on the vehicle. ActionAid expresses regret over the incident. Despite this incident, AA is continuing with its current operations.
On Ist September, a team of AA's doctors carried out a needs assessment to G.B Panth Children's Hospital in Srinagar to look at the current state of the admitted children there and see the extent of impact of curfew there. Three children who required immediate medicines and baby food with their parents and attendants unable to get the same have been provided the requisite medicines and baby food.
Below is an interim list of some of the injured people who are undergoing treatment for various kinds of injuries in various hospitals of Srinagar and whose medicinal needs are being taken care of by ActionAid. We would greatly appreciate if the media follows-up on these persons and their struggles to get due care and an environment to lead a respectable and normal life.
